Developer with a degree in Computer Science from UFF, driven by curiosity to understand how things work under the hood and turn that understanding into code.
My name is Yunguer Dvorak Mendes. I was born in Niterói, grew up in Cabo Frio, and finished high school at 17, in 2019. Right at the start of 2020, I started the Computer Science program at Universidade Federal Fluminense.
Choosing this program wasn't random — I had a lot of contact with computers and video games since childhood, and at some point I went from user to someone who needed to know how everything worked. That curiosity is what led me to computing, and it's what kept me motivated throughout all these years.
Throughout my degree, I worked on projects that demanded much more than just programming: I had to study compiler theory, understand classic AI algorithms like alpha-beta pruning, implement data structures from scratch in C, and master the fundamentals of object orientation to model complex systems.
I graduated with Laurea Acadêmica, the top-of-class honor, and soon after joined MoonLabs Studio. I started as a Game Developer on Devikins, a mobile JRPG in Unity, and later took over as Tech Lead on the game; I also worked on Dobro Goranku, a TCG built in Godot. With the studio's closing, I'm now focused on my master's at UFF, as a research fellow on the GeoMesh project, in partnership with Petrobras.
Beyond games, I also work as a full-stack developer, with Node.js, React, Next.js, TDD with Jest, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Docker. I'm looking for new professional challenges, with a strong willingness to learn, grow and solve real problems with solid code.
